Child safety
Child Safety Standards.
KalaBond is committed to protecting children and has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This page says what is prohibited, how to report a concern, and what we do when you do.

Zero tolerance
KalaBond is made by Kala-X Technology Pty Ltd, a company based in Perth, Western Australia. In these standards "we", "us" and "our" mean that company.
We prohibit any use of KalaBond — the apps, the web app, this website and shared voting links — for Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE). That includes:
- Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) — creating, uploading, storing, sharing or linking to it, in any form, however it was made and whether or not the child depicted is real.
- Grooming — building contact with, or the trust of, a child in order to sexually abuse or exploit them.
- Sexual exploitation of a minor, including sextortion and trafficking.
- Sexual solicitation involving a minor.
- Any other content or activity that facilitates, promotes or normalises the sexual abuse or exploitation of children.
Any of this is a breach of our Terms of Use and, almost everywhere, a serious crime.
Who KalaBond is for
KalaBond is a private notebook and planning tool for keeping up with people you already know. It is made for adults and isn't directed at children. Our Terms of Use say not to create an account if you're under 16, and we don't knowingly create accounts for under-16s. If you believe a child has an account, tell us and we'll remove it.
That age rule is not where our responsibility ends. These standards apply to everything that happens on KalaBond, whoever is using it and whoever a piece of content is about.
Where content can be seen. KalaBond has no public profiles, feeds or search, and no messaging between users. The only thing one person can show another is a plan shared by link, and only to the people holding that link. The AI features draft a message that you send from your own messaging app; KalaBond never sends a message to anyone. None of that puts KalaBond outside these standards — a shared plan, a contact note or a drafted message can still be used in a way we prohibit, and we treat a report about any of them the same way.
Reporting a child-safety concern
If you believe someone is using KalaBond in a way that harms a child, or you've seen something on a shared plan that concerns you, please tell us. There are two routes, and both reach the same small team:
- Email support@kalabond.com with the subject "Child safety". This is the quickest route, and the one to use if you're not signed in — for example if you came across something through a shared voting link.
- From inside the app, go to Settings → Help & support → Send feedback, choose Anything else, and describe what you saw. There is no separate "report child safety" option, so put child safety at the start of your message so we can identify it as a child-safety report. The same screen has a Contact & support link that opens our contact form, which works too.
What helps us act: the link to the shared plan if there is one, the name or email address on the account if you know it, and what you saw and when. Please don't send us the material itself — describe where it is. Forwarding CSAM is itself an offence, and we don't need it to act.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police first.
What we do with a report
Child-safety reports are reviewed by our team. We review each one and take the action that's appropriate, which may include removing the content, or suspending or closing the account involved, as our Terms of Use allow. If a report shows that a child holds an account, we remove the account. We don't promise a fixed turnaround, but we treat a child-safety report as a priority ahead of ordinary support, and we'll reply to you.
We'd rather be plain about the limits. KalaBond doesn't scan what people put in it, and there is no automated detection: we act on what is reported to us, and on what we find while looking into a report or a security problem. That is why a report matters.
Reporting to authorities
Where required by applicable law, we will report confirmed instances of CSAM or child sexual exploitation to the appropriate authorities — in Australia, the Australian Federal Police through the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE), and the relevant authority in another country where its law requires it. We respond to lawful requests from law enforcement, and where the law requires it we may keep information relating to a report for longer than we otherwise would, as our Privacy Policy explains.
Reports are not forwarded to authorities automatically. Some turn out to be mistaken, and some describe a breach of our Terms that isn't a crime; we make that judgement report by report, on what the report and our review show.
You can also report directly to the authorities, and you don't need to come to us first: in Australia, to the ACCCE or the eSafety Commissioner; in the United States, to NCMEC's CyberTipline; elsewhere, to your local police or national child-protection hotline.

Related policies
These standards sit alongside, and don't change, the documents that govern using KalaBond:
- Privacy Policy — including its children section, and how long we keep things.
- Terms of Use — including your account and how you may not use it.
- Contact & support — the contact form, and the same support address.
If we change these standards we'll update the date at the top. If they ever disagree with the Privacy Policy or the Terms, tell us at support@kalabond.com and we'll fix the wording.
